My Mission Statement

I write to serve, to unite, to educate. I write to share literature and flesh out ideas that may be of interest to others. I write to document an emotion, experience, or a blip in time. My mission is to write in such a way that the reader is reminded that we can find humor in all situations. It's one of the great blessings of life.

Vote!

I will not, at any point, encourage us to discuss politics on this site. However, I am very interested in politics myself. I am closely following all the candidates and the issues in this election year, and I encourage you to do the same. We MUST exercise our right to vote and be informed about our decisions. My friend, Liz, (remember the dream interpretations?) sent me this great link. It offers a survey where you select your position on a number of political issues, then it shows you which candidate your views are most closely aligned with. It also shows you how your views differ with other candidates. So check it out, and share with your friends and neighbors! If we could ALL encourage one more person to vote and they all encourage one person to vote, well...you know where I'm going. So go to http://www.electoralcompass.com/language/en. (I can't make it do that underline thing, so you might have to cut and paste it. I know it's a pain, but DO IT!)

Have a great night! DJK

I'm so proud: my daughter registered to vote!

That site was cool. The only thing is that issues are only one part of the decision-making process for me. I also judge by the way a candidate lives and works with other people, which tells me how they will lead.

Yes, that's a definite caveat if you're sending it to a first-time voter who hasn't figured that out for herself. That's the factor that's killing me this election. There's often a contrast between the candidate nailing the issues but doesn't seem to 'play well with others'. Your daughter's first presidential vote. How cool.
