Merry Christmas and a Happy Snuggie to you!

SO....the six-year-old yells for a snuggie every time the commercial comes on, but I chalk it up to television brainwashing. The Snuggie isn't on his Christmas list, isn't in his letter to Santa, nothing, so I don't think anything about it. And for the record, he also begs to go to Chuck E. Cheese's every time that commercial comes on and so on. So I have to admit that I was genuinely surprised when at every family gathering so far, he has cried each time someone ELSE got a Snuggie. Usually these Snuggies were gag gifts, dirty Santa and the like, but still, he wanted one. Then, when his cousin (same age) got one, he really struggled to hold it together. He offered to trade his Legos AND his sister for the Snuggie. I knew I had to do something.

SO in a particularly weak moment, I purchased one for him. Now I already had some for other kids in the family, so I just made sure I had one for each of the four kids (who had also expressed an interest). So this morning, we had a nice Christmas Eve breakfast, an interesting theological discussion, plans for the holidays (like who's sleeping with Grandma), etc. Chris and I said, "We want to give you a present early." Well, we never give presents early, so they were very excited. We handed out the gifts and let them open them all at once. Well, you'd have thought they were solid gold. The kids were so excited. They all put them on right away and wanted to snuggle up together and watch a movie which was funny in itself because clearly the whole 'snuggie' thing equates rest and relaxation to them and snuggling with their sibs, so that cracked me up. But the really funny thing was my six-year-old, the one who REALLY wanted one. He squealed, "A snuggie! THank you, thank you, thank you!" and he proceeded to hug us. Then he STRIPPED OFF ALL HIS CLOTHES, put on the snuggie (while we all stared, open-mouthed), and said,"OOh, this feels good."

Of course, we all died laughing. My daughter said," You don't have to take off your clothes to wear it." But he said, "I want to. It feels good." So right now, all my kiddos are snuggled up on the sofa in their snuggies watching ELF, happy as puppies, and one very strange child is buck naked under his snuggie. Go figure.

May your days be merry and bright. Have a wonderful, blessed Christmas filled with magical moments and the pure joy of naked in a snuggie. xoxox

Merry Christmas Donna. Now, he's a boy to watch. He'll make some girl happy one day, I do believe.

Ours was today, and it was a good one.

What a snuggly, warm memory this is going to be 20 years from now. His siblings will NEVER let him live it down, either.

Happy New Year
