My Mission Statement

I write to serve, to unite, to educate. I write to share literature and flesh out ideas that may be of interest to others. I write to document an emotion, experience, or a blip in time. My mission is to write in such a way that the reader is reminded that we can find humor in all situations. It's one of the great blessings of life.

Message for Mom

I have a laptop that ONLY I use. It's a recent major accomplishment in the family as the result of more than a few foot-stomping temper tantrums, but now they know
at my computer is MY COMPUTER! At any rate, when I sat down at my computer today, this is what was on the screen:

the rules of the car pool for kids

#1=if your mom drives YOU sit in the front seat.

#2=if your sibling is too loud and you tell them to be quiet 2 times but they do not listen tell your mom or dad.

#3=respect the driver

#4=for the little kids DO NOT GET IN THE FRONT SEAT UNTIL ALL BIG KIDS ARE OUT!

#5=no rude remarks!

Hmmmm. Now let me say that my computer is a laptop, no printing, so this message was clearly for me. It was left unsigned. Clearly carpool is feeling very wrong to someone. Let me guess who? Anyway, I thought it was hilarious, and I wanted to share. Can you guess the personality of this child? How about the birth order? (that one might throw you?) How about the sex of the child? Approximate age? I'd love to hear your guesses. I, on the other hand, knew who it was IMMEDIATELY as mothers always do. I'll let you know what happens next in the carpool drama.

I received a big, fat rejection today from an editor. It wasn't my first choice (who still has my partial), but it was the first ever real-live publishing house editor to read any of it. It was actually a pretty nice rejection. I don't want to be like Brooke on American Idol who appeared totally shocked, the last one on earth to realize she wasn't the American Idol, because at this point, I guess I would be way MORE shocked at different news, BUT you always hope, you know? I'm working on several projects right now that I'll hopefully begin sending out before too long, but who knows?

I had my teeth cleaned today, and they feel so wonderful. Almost as good as when my braces first came off. Now that was a great feeling.

Everyone take care and have a great day.

p.s. I'm reading THE ARTIST'S WAY by Julia Cameron. You MUST check it out. For all artists (which means ALL PEOPLE!!!)
