The B Word

So my kids are talking this morning (along with some additional neighborhood kids), and one of the older kids mentions someone saying the "B word" and getting in trouble. My five-year-old pipes up, "I know what the B word is."
"YOu do?" I ask and all the other kids are interested, too. I suspect most of them don't know what it is, and here is this knowledgeable five-year-old.
"Can I say it?" he asks, clearly enjoying the spotlight.
"Yes, but just this one time," I say. I'm curious, and here's a teachable moment with a rapt audience.
"The B word is..."he pauses, a little nervous to say it aloud, "Beep!"
The kids all crack up. "Beep?" they ask. What's so bad about beep?"
"I don't know," he said, "but on tv the bad guys always yell WHAT THE BEEP?"
I died laughing and just had to share it with you. Funny stuff.
The other one I have to tell on him before I forget is this one. A friend's dog had puppies, so we went over to visit. YS immediately spotted the poor mom dog, clearly nursing, and said, "Look at the gutters!"
Well, most of us looked up at the house, and then we realized he was calling the mom's sore teats "udders" except he said, "gutters".
Spending lots of time with your kids definitely keeps you laughing. I have OM practice today, and I can't wait to see what the kids come up with. They're a really great group. Have a wonderful day, laughing with your kids! xox

LOL. Thanks for the great laugh, Donna. You told it well. Now I'm forever going to think of the "b" word as BEEP! Much better, IMHO. :)
