My Mission Statement

I write to serve, to unite, to educate. I write to share literature and flesh out ideas that may be of interest to others. I write to document an emotion, experience, or a blip in time. My mission is to write in such a way that the reader is reminded that we can find humor in all situations. It's one of the great blessings of life.

Grateful Wed

Wow! What a day! I just did some awesome writing with the cutest bunch of kindergartners EVAH. It is a monsoon outside (which means my dogs are insane), and ever the health-conscious one, I'm eating a box of Russell Stover chocolates with a jar of peanut butter in my lap where I dip each piece of chocolate, sometimes even DOUBLE DIP.

Yesterday I finished a rough draft of my new novel. Woo hoo! I hope it will become good at some point--hahaha. Actually, I already love it. Is that okay to say? I'm just so thrilled to have finished another one. I wasn't sure I'd write another novel. Thank you to NaNoWriMo--the most rockin' writing exercise EVAH and my friend, Jody, who gave me the kick in the rear I needed.

I'm feeling so grateful this morning for a mass of little things, so I just may let the big ones go unsaid because certainly you know I'm glad my husband and children and parents are all healthy, etc.

So here goes. I'm super grateful for
-creamy peanut butter and it's unparalleled healing powers
-chocolate and it's unique ability to mate with creamy peanut butter
-finishing a rough draft! 40,000 words of my own creation
-hard rain on my tin roof
-writing lessons with kindergartners
-checking out butterflies with second graders
-Odyssey of the Mind and the best team EVAH
-my daughter's forgetfulness or I wouldn't have had this box of Valentine candy to eat (it was for her teacher---sorry--okay, now I"m feeling bad...)
-our new Subway in Edenton! We're really uptown now with a SUBWAY!
-clean laundry and an empty dishwasher
-that I didn't have MORE money in the stock market

Have a wonderful, blessed, grateful day. I KNOW everyone out there can be grateful for something. It's a great way to go through the day--looking for things for which you can be grateful. Oh, and a little peanut butter always helps, too. Try not to get it on your computer keys, though, it dries crunchy (isn't that a curious thing? perhaps crunchy peanut butter dries creamy? do you think?)

Yay! for 40,000 of your own words. And now you've made me crave peanut butter. And rain on a tin roof. (We have sleet here.)

Hey, Sara! Thanks for reading. I'll bet your sleet sounds great on the roof, too. Write something fabulous today.
