My 365th blog day! Unbelieveable. I could publish a 'one a day' devotional now. Ha ha I can't believe I've been doing this for 365 days. Whew!
Well, yesterday was, of course, the first day of school. While all the kids had GREAT first days (I'm not kidding; I can't remember when everyone was so excited on the first day of school.), my 3rd grader was definitely the most excited and for the craziest reasons.
1. He got his own planner. Yes, his older sisters have had school planners for years--either he's never noticed or that fact just didn't dampen his excitement. At any rate, he was over the moon about this planner. He could NOT stop talking about it.
2. The school began a fundraiser (my long time readers will remember my past rants and raves about this topic--I'll try to refrain this morning), and if he sells 30 items, he will get a ride to school in a limousine. No kidding. And let me give you a little context here. WE live in a very small town. I don't know if the kid has ever SEEN a limousine up close. One old guy in town has a 'limo service', and, I swear, his one limousine must be from 1972 and is covered in what looks like pollen year round.
Ben went on and on and on about this riding to school in a limousine, how they all have hot tubs (?? where did he get that?) and refrigerators, and he would ride to school in STYLE. Now that I think about it, does he think he gets to ride in a limousine forever? I need to clarify to him that it's just one day. Anyway, he is determined to sell the 30 items, so if anyone wants to help my crazy kid get a ride in the limousine, come on over and buy some overpriced candy and/or wrapping paper. Anyway, I will keep you posted on this whole limousine thing. The sisters have promised to help. My YS was a little disappointed that if his brother won, he couldn't ride with him (I don't know, maybe he could??), so I promised him a trip to the dollar store that day. As if it's already a fact.
3. Lastly, Ben was all in a rage because apparently, the student body president was elected at the end of the school year last year, and he ran on the platform that he would get boys only hot tubs (there's the hot tub again--hmmm) in the teacher's lounge for this year. Ben was so disappointed that it didn't pan out. And he got mad that I laughed when he told me what he was upset about. I couldn't help it. I'm still laughing that he thought that would actually happen. It's a sad and disappointing way to learn about politics, but unfortunately, it's an important lesson. We definitely used that 'teachable moment'.
So in a house with four kiddos, there's never a dull moment, but #3 provided the excitement, hands down, last night. I hope he'll do okay today. I don't see how any day can possibly stack up to yesterday.
I am feeling very grateful for a great first day yesterday. Everyone popped right up out of bed this morning, excited to go. Hope all your kids had good ones, too.

Maybe Ben knew something we didn't know. Like girls or young women be in teacher's lounge. Boy's tend to be like horses I think.
Thanks so much for reading! I think you're right.
