My Mission Statement

I write to serve, to unite, to educate. I write to share literature and flesh out ideas that may be of interest to others. I write to document an emotion, experience, or a blip in time. My mission is to write in such a way that the reader is reminded that we can find humor in all situations. It's one of the great blessings of life.

Monday, Monday (da, da, da-da-da-da)

Haiku the Sunday New York Times and other ridiculous applications

Times Square bomb suspect
Has apparently BEEN peeved,
Plotting for a while.

E-question to friends:
"Can you tell me a way to
Save the oppressed?" Nope.

Will King Bhumidol
Step in to save his country?
Thailand needs him now.

To Be Sung to the Tune of 'My Favorite Things' from Sound of Music

Top secret networks and SHH! private spy rings.
CIA officers--people who won't sing.
They're not s'posed to do it, no Pakistan stings
But these are a few of our favorite things...

Petraeus denies it, but sources imply it.
Can't gather intelligence, rent it or buy it.
But how will we know to avoid Pakistan's sting?
Spies are a few of our favorite things.

To the tune of 'Moon River' (yes, one of the greatest songs of all times...)

(note-this is the travel section)

Lost River
Nobody in sight
All alone, a kayak delight.

In Lost River
A small sliver
Of world is your own, the kayak's your throne...

Lost River
Paddle to the Grand
Canyon, it's the land to see
In Lost River your heart quivers
Wherever you're paddling, it's you and, well, you.

(okay, that's all I can muster there...)

Sunday Business Section (Shook Me All Night Long)

It's was a fast machine
Made you money, clean,
With the best damn stock returns we'd ever seen.

We'd put the money in
Take it for a spin
Biggest complaint was the tax bracket's sin.

Then Wall Street's quakin', no more money makin', our hearts were breaking and the market was shaking 'cause YOU shook us all year long. Yeah, YOU, Wall Street, shook us all year long. You really shook me. You really shook me. (guitar solo here)

Okay, hope you all have a great Monday. If you can add a verse, please do. I've got to get to work!! I've missed you darling people. Come connect with me. (and wish me a late happy birthday-it was yesterday, and yes, I am older AND wiser)
