My Mission Statement

I write to serve, to unite, to educate. I write to share literature and flesh out ideas that may be of interest to others. I write to document an emotion, experience, or a blip in time. My mission is to write in such a way that the reader is reminded that we can find humor in all situations. It's one of the great blessings of life.

New Laptop, New Mission

I'm coming at ya from a new place. Can you tell? I got a beautiful new laptop today. My hubby got tired of sharing for many reasons, mostly because we both tend to be on the computer at the same time. So I have a new e-mail address of my own, too. Maybe this is a sign of great things to come.
My kids have been super whiny this week. I don't know if it's the cold, cloudy, dreary weather or just the winter doldrums (what a hilarious word, doldrums, eh? sounds like scrotum or phlegm), but they're driving me crazy. And my kids don't usually drive me crazy. But I made a FABULOUS hot dish tonight, the best yet. Truly, it was deliciouso. Isn't that enough to change their moods? It was enough to change mine, and I'm much less dizzy now, thank you. And thank you also for everyone who called and told me I'd always been dizzy, and was I just noticing it. Those are the kind of voice mails that just keep me smiling. Speaking of voice mails, my cell phone is lost. MIA. It's a blackberry knock-off kind of thing, so it has my entire schedule on it. It MUST be found. I should offer a reward. That usually gets the kids going, like when they found my diamond ring.
It's parent conference season. I love going to parent conferences, and when I was a teacher, I loved having them. There's no single more powerful meeting in your child's life than a parent conference. If everyone really listens to each other, you can move mountains. I have nothing funny tonight. Nothing. Perhaps I shouldn't have blogged. I'm feeling a little unblogworthy tonight. I cleaned house today. BoRING. I did submit a 100 word essay, finally, to try to get a gig as a guest columnist. We'll see what comes of that. I can't stop singing that darn Veggie Tale song, "Oh, where is my hairbrush? Oh, where is my hairbrush? Oh, where oh where oh where oh where oh where oh where oh where oh where oh where?? Is my hairbrush?

That Veggietales song is insidious. That tends to get sung around here too. But we particularly like the line "I gave it to the peach - because - you know - he has hair"

I'm just wondering how you can have that song going through your head and still, somehow, feel less dizzy than before? How bad off were you???

Glad the dizzy isn't so bad. Could be allergy, you know, and the weather. I like your newsy blogs even when they are hillarious. And I sure understand your feeling about wanting to settle down at the cottage for a while.
About the good HOT DISH. How about sharing what you put in it?

I meant, even when they are NOT hillarious.
