Honking Dilemma

Is it ever okay to honk? Okay, if you're in traffic and there's a dangerous situation, sure, honk. But I mean, in other situations. Particularly if you're picking someone up at their house and don't plan to leave your car. Is it okay to honk? Or is that, like, 'I'm impatient and I've been waiting for ages'? And here's what I've really been wondering: what about the carpool honk? I have the most wonderful carpool situation--the kids are awesome. So when I pull up at their house, I hate to honk unless I've been waiting for awhile, but perhaps it would be more practical to just honk as I drive up every day. Then I think of all the old people on the street who don't have to get up with kids. They might not appreciate the honking at 7:40 every morning. Anyway, these are the kind of moral dilemmas that plague my thoughts every day.

It is pouring rain here today, perfect weather for writing, well, actually, for sleeping.

My daughter keeps texting me from the bathroom at school today. I hope she doesn't get busted. Apparently one of her friends wants to 'deck' her. I hope she doesn't. But I told my daughter to be a peacemaker and 'Duck not deck' and apologize if necessary. Not sure if that's helpful. I'm sure she thinks I sound like a big nerd. What would YOU say?
