My Mission Statement

I write to serve, to unite, to educate. I write to share literature and flesh out ideas that may be of interest to others. I write to document an emotion, experience, or a blip in time. My mission is to write in such a way that the reader is reminded that we can find humor in all situations. It's one of the great blessings of life.

Pre Mid-Life Crisis

I might as well let you in on something. I'm having some kind of wierd mid-life crisis for some reason. Maybe it's because I'm about to turn 40. (I know, 40 is nothing these days) and I'm not about to run off with the pool guy or buy a convertible or anything. It's more like a self-analysis. Maybe it's more related to my baby starting kindergarten this year. Okay, now I feel ridiculous. But I'm starting my older kids inch toward high school and beyond, and I wonder...am I doing this right?

I want to raise children who are liked by other people, too. I want to raise children who can look beyond their own immediate gratification to the bigger needs of the world. I want my children to know that God has an awesome plan for all people including them. I want them to be hard workers who understand the value of money and also understand the meaninglessness of money.

So am I doing enough to insure that?

Anyway, so that's my current distraction and malfunction. I'm trying not to be cynical or overly obsessive about all this, but some of it might eek through. So forgive me.

And also, what happened to poetry friday? It's not even posted anymore, so I don't even know what happened. Did anyone comment? If you did, I never saw it. It just dissolved.

I'm dying to see a Kindle. Does anyone out there have one? I know a lot of people are *violently* opposed to them, and it's an interesting debate, but my theory is that it can only boost the readership of adults just as the ipod has boosted the musicality of adults in America. Anyone want to weigh in? OR is there anyone who has one I can see? That's the wierd part about Kindle. You can't just go to a store and look at one (that I KNOW of), it's only available online. And I've never even seen one in REAL LIFE. So if anyone has one, please let me take a peek.

Hi middle aged lady...I should be so lucky. When I was 38 I went back to college, left my husband, moved to a strange new city and went to college, started a new career, met a sexy man and married him, and then changed careers again a few years later. My gosh, girl, there is tons of life left to be lived! You're ONLY going to be 40.
About your kids, if you can write a paragraph like this about how you want them to turn out, I guarantee your message is getting through to them. Rest easy. They're God's children and He'll help you guide them. He gave them to you and Chris because you were the best parents to raise them to be the people they need to be. Take heart, it's just hormones.
