Today I have a student who is doing a shadow study with me. She's hanging out with me all day to see what it's like to be a writer. Okay, stop laughing, she really is. So I thought she would be a great guest blogger for today. So encourage her.
She helped me with some research at the library, peeked in at my big drawer full of rejections, and took a look at a few of my manuscripts while I did some writing.
I asked her to choose a favorite picture book to write about, to introduce you to yet another wonderful book to love and share with others. I was blown away by her choice, a darling book that I had never read (can you believe it?), AND it was edited by one of my favorite editors, Patty Lee Gauch. So hold on to your hats, fellas, and give a warm round of applause for my shadow student, SYDNEY! Woo Hoo!
My name is Sydney and I am an aspiring writer, also I am in middle school. The book that i read today was entitled, La La Rose by Satumi Ichikawa. La La Rose is a pink stuffed animal who is loved and cared for by her owner, Clementine. But one day as they went to Luxembourg Gardens with her younger brother and grandmother, Clementine lost La La Rose. This poor little rabbit doll experiences and afternoon of disasters but is later reunited with her Clementine.
Welcome to ChitChat. I am the mother of four children and a writer of children's literature trying to make sense of it all. Join me as we talk about family, children, education, current events and GREAT BOOKS!
My Mission Statement
I write to serve, to unite, to educate. I write to share literature and flesh out ideas that may be of interest to others. I write to document an emotion, experience, or a blip in time. My mission is to write in such a way that the reader is reminded that we can find humor in all situations. It's one of the great blessings of life.

Hi, this is Sydney's mom--Thanks for letting Sydney guest blog! She had a blast with you. She has recently written several poems. Her dream is really to have them published. Where do you suggest we send them? Thanks again for the positive influence you had on her.
I loved having her. I'd start with Highlights magazine. It's a first class publication and they accept a lot of student work.
